Practice is:

1.Working on all items on your assignment – not just

       not just your favorites.

2.  Reading all instructions in your notebook

and following them to the best of your ability.

3.  Asking Mrs. Winner to explain anything you

  don’t understand.

4.  Understanding that practicing daily and practicing

carefully are the “keys” to learning to play well:

                 Slow practice = fast progress.

                 Fast practice   = slow progress.

                 Little practice = little progress.

5.  Understanding that playing the correct notes is

only the first step in learning to play the piano well.

Go for the details (phrasing, slurs, staccatos, accents,

dynamics) that make music sound exciting, dramatic,

frightening, dreamy, sad or happy - whatever the

   composer intended.

6. Listening to the music you are playing.

How does it sound? (Your ears won’t lie to you!)
